India is known to be the largest producers of engineers. There are numerous institutions in India that impart undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering.
Indian Institutes of Technology: There are 16 IITs which are insitutes of national importance. All the IITs are autnonmous institutions and draft their own academic cirriculum. Many of these IITs are members of LAOTSE, which is a membership that allows the IITs to exchange students and scholars with foreign universities.
National Institutes of Technology (NIT) are among the premier insitutes of engineering and technology in India. There are about 30 NITs in India. To get into any of the NITs candidates are required to take up JEE Mains. The parameters include Institution reputation, quality of academic input, faculty, research strengths, student care, infrastructure, innovation, admission procedure, placement record.
